How You Can Activate DLSS 3 Frame Generation To Boost Your Gaming Performance

My RTX 3060 Ti Founders Edition, which was excellent for gaming at 1080p but started to creak at 1440p, has been replaced with an Nvidia RTX 4070 Founders Edition lately. The Ascent, Cyberpunk 2077, and even Forza Horizon 5 required me to lower the settings.

For me, the Nvidia RTX 4070 appeared to be the ideal GPU. My AMD Ryzen 5 5600X CPU and 32GB of DDR4 RAM would perform admirably with this mid-range graphics card. I started Cyberpunk 2077 after an easy installation and driver upgrade. Frame generation wasn't available when I went to Settings >> Graphics, as I had anticipated.

Unbeknownst to me, hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling was not turned on for Windows 10 22H2 on my computer. It is turned on by default in Windows 11, which may be another way to get consumers to upgrade.

What is Nvidia DLSS Technology?

The cutting-edge technique called NVIDIA DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) was created by NVIDIA to enhance the visual quality and performance of real-time computer graphics in video games. The goal of DLSS is to produce demanding games with high-quality, high-resolution visuals without compromising performance.

A pre-trained neural network that has been trained on both high-resolution pictures and their lower-resolution counterparts is how DLSS operates. Utilizing the power of AI, DLSS analyzes the frame that is currently being produced while a game is being played and produces a higher-resolution image based on the lower-resolution one.

Without compromising on image quality, DLSS enables game creators to achieve faster frame rates and more fluid gameplay. With less performance overhead than is generally involved with rendering at higher resolutions, DLSS may upscale lower-resolution pictures to higher resolutions.

Additionally, DLSS incorporates temporal feedback, which enhances anti-aliasing and overall picture sharpness by using data from past frames to enhance the quality of the present frame. This temporal feedback aids in lowering artifacts and enhancing the final image's quality.

Overall, DLSS is a useful technology for both gamers and game developers since it enables players to experience aesthetically spectacular images at greater resolutions with enhanced performance.

What precisely is optical multiple frame generation?

By analyzing "two sequential in-game images and calculating motion vector data for objects and elements that appear in the frame," optical multi-frame generation, which was first described in DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling), creates frames using AI. In order to create a combined DLSS-generated image, the frames are sent into a neural network together with motion vectors from the engine and optical flow. DLSS 3 is claimed to increase frame rates by up to 4 times when compared to non-DLSS approaches.

Our GPU Editor, Jarred Walton, has all the detailed technical information on the RTX 4070. In our unscientific test, we increased frame production from 45 frames per second to 75 frames per second, which is an excellent improvement given the mid-range specs of our setup.

Update your game and driver software.

Make sure your games are updated and that you are using the most recent Nvidia RTX 40 series card drivers before you begin the procedure. I chose Cyberpunk 2077 as my test subject because it recently received a ray-tracing overdrive upgrade.

How to enable GPU scheduling with hardware acceleration?

Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling, which was added to Windows 10 in the May 2020 update, enables Windows to delegate the majority of GPU scheduling chores to a separate GPU-based scheduling engine. While Windows 11 automatically enables hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling, Windows 10 requires us to do so.

Go to the Graphics Options menu in step 1. By typing "Graphics" into Windows and selecting "Graphics Settings," you can get there.

2. Turn on GPU scheduling with hardware acceleration.

Restart your computer.

DLSS 3.0 Frame Generation is used.

1. In the game's options, select the Graphics menu.

2. Select DLSS Frame Generation in step two.

3. Begin playing.

Enjoy playing more fluidly.
