How To Enable Sandbox in Microsoft Windows

Windows Sandbox is a built-in feature in Windows 10 that allows you to run applications in a secure, isolated environment. It creates a temporary desktop environment where you can install and run programs without affecting your main system. Once you close the Sandbox, all files and changes made within it will be deleted, keeping your main system clean and secure.

Windows Sandbox uses virtualization technology to create a lightweight and isolated virtual machine (VM) environment. It is designed for testing applications, browsing potentially unsafe websites, and opening suspicious files in a secure environment.

To use Windows Sandbox, your system must meet certain requirements, such as having at least Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise edition installed, and having virtualization capabilities enabled in your BIOS settings.

To open Windows Sandbox, you can search for it in the Windows Start menu, or by running "Windows Sandbox" in the Run dialog (Windows key + R).

Windows Sandbox can be a useful tool for users who want to test new applications or software without risking their main system. It provides a safe and secure environment to run applications, reducing the risk of infecting your system with malware or unwanted software.

Here's how to enable Sandbox in Windows 10:

1. Check if your system supports Sandbox:

  • Click on the Windows Start menu and search for "Windows Features".
  • Select "Turn Windows Features on or off".
  • Scroll down and look for "Windows Sandbox" in the list.
  • If it is present, your system supports Sandbox.

2. Enable Sandbox:

  • If Sandbox is not enabled, check the box next to "Windows Sandbox".
  • Click "OK" and wait for Windows to make the necessary changes.
  • Restart your computer to complete the installation.

3. Use Sandbox:

  • Click on the Windows Start menu and search for "Windows Sandbox".
  • Click on the "Windows Sandbox" app to launch it.
  • You can now run any application or program in the Sandbox environment without affecting your system.
  • Once you close the Sandbox, all files and changes made within it will be deleted.

Note: If your system does not support Sandbox, you may need to enable virtualization in your BIOS settings or upgrade to a version of Windows 10 that supports it.
